We joined Sail Indonesia and choosing “the less travelled route” turned out to be a planning masterstroke. The rally took us further and deeper into this country than we would ever have discovered on our own. From Spice islands in the east, to the remote Butan province in the north and the isolated Sagori island in the center of the archipelago, we experienced an Indonesia full of colour, welcoming crowds and unusual customs. Our toddler Braca drew the crowds of well wishers wherever we went and it was a hustling, bustling, exhausting adventure.
