We travelled from the Tuamotus atolls to the Society Islands, where we enjoyed the richness of and diversity of experience. Being our second run through this part of French Polynesia for both of us, it was both familiar and filled with an endless stream of new experiences. Friends visited from New Zealand, and we had some amazingly close encounters with humpback, manta, shark, turtles and the truly intimidating coconut crab. The natural beauty of these islands is surely second to none. French Polynesia saved the best for last, and the tiny islands of Maupiti and Maupiha’a kept us longer than planned, as we enjoyed these two isolated wonders on the western edge of paradise.
