Indonesian Region: 2013

We settled into Sydney for a short-term contract and enjoyed living on the pick off of Manly Beach. At the conclusion of the contract, we sailed 3,000 miles from Sydney through the Barrier Reef to the top of the east coast, and then turned west along the northern coast to Darwin. In route we found out we were pregnant with our second child, and we decided we would continue cruising through the pregnancy through Indonesia.

We spent the majority of the season exploring “off-route” townships and visiting places unfamiliar with tourism either by land or sea. We were privy to many traditional ceremonies and hosted by the most warm and welcoming Indonesians. The season ended in Singapore, where we laid up the boat ashore and flew back to NZ for birth of our daughter, Ayla.
