Malaysia and Thailand: 2014/15

We spent nine months ashore in New Zealand for the birth of our daughter and returned to the cruising life in September 2014. Sailing Ātea north from Singapore, we spent the next six months transiting between Langkawi, Malaysia to Phuket, Thailand. It was not a very adventurous season but it was a highly enjoyable one with plenty of good company, delicious and affordable food, and duty free liquor to ease us along the path. While Malaysia and Thailand didn’t offer the most varied or extended cruising grounds, the hongs on Thailands eastern side were a highlight to explore and the shoreside activities and sights were fantastic tourist exploits. After a few years of more remote travel, it was fun to be a concentrated boating community and enjoy the sociability and connections that come with it.
